Kapil Dev is undoubtedly one of the best all-rounders that India has produced. He is only the second Indian cricketer after MS Dhoni on whom a biopic is being made. Better known as the Haryana Hurricane, Kapil Dev paved the way of fast bowling culture in India. If we see a crop of good fast bowling options today in our country, the seed was planted a long time ago by Kapil Dev. Apart from leading India to the coveted world cup trophy in 1983, he played some match-winning knocks with the ball as well as with the bat. Post his retirement from the game, he had a short stint with the national team as their head coach from 1999 to 2000.
Currently, he owns a company called Dev Musco Lighting which installs floodlights in the cricket stadiums in India. He also owns multiple restaurant chains across various cities in the country and is the brand ambassador of a renowned fantasy cricket app called Apne 11.

The original little master blaster of India, Sunil Gavaskar, is considered as one of the best batsmen of his generation. He was the first batsman to score 10,000 test runs and was the record holder of the maximum number of test centuries until Sachin Tendulkar went past him in 2005. Gavaskar also led India to the World Series championship title in 1985 in Australia.
Post-retirement, Gavaskar has been the voice of Indian cricket. At present, he is one of the premier Indian commentators.
Tahir Raj Bhasin who was earlier seen in Mardaani and Chhichhore will be portraying Sunil Gavaskar’s role in the film, ’83 world cup movie.
During his playing days, Ravi Shastri was one of the few spin all-rounders who played for India in that era. He was named the ‘champion of champions’ during the world series in Australia in1985. His love affair with Australia continued when he became the first Indian batsman to score a double century on Australian soil in 1992.
Since 2017, he has been the head coach of the Indian male cricket team. Before taking up the role of the head coach, he was considered to be one of the finest commentators who never hesitated in voicing his opinion.
Uri actor Dhairya Karwa will be seen as Ravi Shastri in the movie ’83.
Mohinder Amarnath, also known as Jimmy, is the son of the famous Lala Amarnath. But Jimmy is better known for his stellar performances during the 1983 World cup. With back to back match-winning performances in the semi-final and final clash, he was an integral part of the squad. He was also the vice-captain of the Indian cricket team which won the 1983 World Cup. The iconic moment of Amarnath taking the final wicket of the world cup final and taking the bails and running towards the pavilion is still afresh in our minds. Looking forward to the ‘83-world cup movie to relive that particular moment. 1983 world cup movie

The flamboyant, Sandeep Patil, provided stability in the middle order of the 1983 World Cup team. No one can forget his winning shot against England in the semi-final match off Bob Willis. The audacity with which he hit Bob Willis on the offside, even though all the 9 players were fielding on the same, just gave the perfect impetus before the final match against West Indies. 1983 world cup movie
Sandeep Patil is one of the few cricketers from that team who took up the Indian men team coaching job in 1996 but had more success during his coaching stint with Kenya where the team reached the semi-finals of the 2003 World Cup against the odds. He was also the chairman of selectors of the Indian cricket team from 2012 to 2016.
Interestingly, Sandeep Patil’s very own son, Chirag Patil, will enact the role of his father in the film’83.
Dilip Balwant Vengsarkar
Along with Sandeep Patil, Vengsarkar was the mainstay of the Indian middle-order during the 1983 World Cup. With a solid technique, he provided solidarity to Indian batting line up, which was termed as fragile by many of the cricket experts back then. He is one of the two Indians to score three consecutive test centuries. Like a few of his peers, he donned the hat of chairman of Indian selectors for a few years. Currently, he runs cricket academies in Mumbai and Pune. 1983 world cup movie

Currently, he is the mentor of the IPL team – Sunrisers Hyderabad.
